Chief Justice John Roberts highlighted four specific threats to judicial independence: violence, intimidation, disinformation and threats to defy judgments.
The Colorado Judicial Institute, the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association and the Colorado Bar Association released statements expressing concern about the campaign targeting Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Monica Márquez.
Márquez said the branch is in “a period of significant transition” as the branch has seen high turnover at all levels, including judicial clerks, probation staff and judicial officers.
