Storytelling as a Means of Social Change

June 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

From event organziers:

Presented by Dr. Janine Weaver-Douglas

“Without community, there is no liberation.” (Audre Lorde) Storytelling has long been understood as a means to communicate culture, share perspective, and understand the communities we live in, but its true power is in its ability to bridge difference, create meaning, & initiate change. As lawyers & changemakers, storytelling serves to both protect & preserve the humanity of those working in the name of justice, and of the legal system as a community. Join us for this interactive lunch & learn session, where we will explore storytelling as a means of personal & professional wellness, investigate our own positionality within oppressive systems, and develop a new understanding of both community and liberation.
