Sherman & Howard Announces 2024 Summer Associate Class

Sherman & Howard announced May 28 it welcomed eight summer associates to its 2024 program.

“We are looking forward to these eight exceptional law students joining us for the summer,” Sherman & Howard member and CEO Stefan Stein said in a news release. “Over the next eight weeks, they will develop invaluable legal skills, build meaningful relationships, and experience what it’s like to be an attorney at our firm.”


“Our students will have the opportunity to dive into a variety of practice areas,” Sherman & Howard member and Summer Associate Program chair Jackie Benson said in a news release. “They will work side by side with Sherman & Howard attorneys on active matters, attend client meetings and court appearances, and participate in a Capstone project. It will be an incredible summer where students will learn and begin to grow into the lawyers they aspire to be.” 

According to the announcement, Camila Gutierrez Writtenberry and Sasha Shadrina are participating in the program for the second consecutive summer, and Cornelius Foxworth II returns to the firm after previously serving as a practice assistant in the business and real estate practice group.

The 2024 class includes the following summer associates:

Josh Deibert will be starting his third year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the fall. Before attending law school, he worked at a construction company and served as a law clerk at another Colorado law firm, where he assisted in research of construction case law and statutes.

Tad Elliott will be starting his third year of law school at the University of Colorado Law School in the fall. He has served as a judicial assistant at La Plata County Combined Courts and a summer associate at another Denver firm.

Cornelius Foxworth II will be starting his second year of law school at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the fall. Prior to law school, he interned at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office and was a practice assistant in Sherman & Howard’s business and real estate practice group.

Emily Garlock will be starting her third year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the fall, where she serves as a teaching assistant and an academic achievement program leader. Before attending law school, Garlock worked as a legal assistant and then as a paralegal.

Libby Gorske will be starting her third year of law school at the University of Colorado Law School in the fall, where she volunteers as a student law ambassador and serves as the treasurer for the class of 2025. Previously, she was a judicial intern for Judge Michael Hegarty at the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

Alex Lemmel will be starting their third year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the fall. They have served as a legal extern at a technology company and a manufacturing company. Lemmel also has a background as a certified public accountant with over a decade of experience.

Sasha Shadrina will be starting her third year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the fall. She has experience as a paralegal with Colorado Legal Services, where she volunteered during the COVID-19 pandemic, and participated in Sherman & Howard’s Summer Associate Program in 2023.

Camila Gutierrez Writtenberry will be starting her third year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in the fall. She participated in the firm’s Summer Associate Program in 2023 and was a law clerk for the firm in the fall. Most recently, she completed an internship at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.
