Recht Kornfeld Opens Office in Durango, Adds Two Shareholders

Recht Kornfeld PC announced Sept. 10 that the firm had opened new offices in Durango, Colorado and New York, and that Katherine Otto and Beale Tejada had joined the firm as shareholders. 

“We are excited to join a firm with such a strong reputation in civil litigation and criminal law,” Otto said in a press release. “Recht Kornfeld’s commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our approach to client service, and we look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success and growth in these critical areas.” 


Otto splits her time between Denver and New York. Alongside Otto, associates Rachel Banks and Emilie Lorden joined Recht Kornfeld from her previous firm. Banks works in the firm’s New York office, and Lorden works in Denver.

Otto is a civil trial lawyer with experience as lead counsel in jury trials. She specializes in professional liability, focusing on the defense of claims against healthcare professionals and attorneys. She also defends clients in licensing, credentialing and disciplinary matters before various regulatory boards and agencies. 

Otto is licensed in both Colorado and New York. She maintains an active practice in both states and is admitted to federal courts in both jurisdictions. 

Tejada is experienced as a trial lawyer, specializing in personal injury and criminal defense. In his criminal defense practice, Tejada represents individuals across a wide spectrum of charges, from allegations of drinking and driving to murder charges. 

He has defended clients against charges in nearly every jurisdiction in Colorado, including many on the Western Slope. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Colorado College and his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School.
