Venable LLP announced on July 1 that Peter Koclanes joined the firm’s Denver office as a partner in the commercial litigation practice group.
Koclanes has more than 35 years of experience litigating securities and class actions, patents and other intellectual property, corporate governance and business tort claims and disputes involving energy, oil and gas, trusts and estates and real estate. He conducts internal investigations for corporate clients and works with special litigation committees of corporate boards of directors, limited liability company managers, partnerships and other business entities. He appears in matters pending in federal and state courts in Colorado, New York and throughout the U.S.
“Peter is a talented trial lawyer with fantastic depth and range of experience,” said Ed Boyle, a co-chair of the firm’s litigation division, in a news release. “He is a great addition to our firm’s corps of first-class commercial litigators.”
“We are thrilled to have Peter on board as we continue to expand the firm’s presence in Colorado,” Denver partner-in-charge Jim Sawtelle said in a news release. “I have known Peter a long time, and I know firsthand how much he brings to the table for his clients and colleagues. He will be a great asset to the firm.”
“I am looking forward to practicing alongside the high-caliber attorneys and business professionals at Venable,” said Koclanes in the announcement. “The talented and esteemed Venable team and community are what really drew me to the firm.”
Koclanes received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the Colorado School of Mines.
