Moye White LLP, a national law firm with an office in Denver, announced the arrival of Tanner Walls to its litigation team June 20. Walls, a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, focuses his practice on civil disputes, commercial litigation, employment litigation, healthcare and product liability. Prior to joining Moye White, Walls gained experience as a partner and trial attorney at a national business firm that serves Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurs.
On June 21, AM Law Firm Polsinelli announced they welcomed Hillary Ellis to its real estate practice in its Denver office. Ellis, a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, focuses her practice on complex commercial real estate matters related to the development, acquisition, disposition and financing of commercial properties as well as the leasing of retail, office and industrial properties. Ellis joins Polsinelli from her previous position as a partner at Kutak Rock LLP.
Judiciary
The Ninth Judicial District Nominating Commission announced plans to meet Aug. 8 at the Garfield County Courthouse to interview and select nominees for county judge for Garfield County. The vacancy will be created by Judge Paul Metzger’s retirement, effective Oct. 1. Nominations and applications are due June 28 and July 5.
The Fourth Judicial District, Access to Justice Committee for the Fourth Judicial District, Justice Center, Family Law Section of the El Paso County Bar Association and Colorado Legal Services announced the sixth annual Family Law Day in El Paso and Teller counties. On July 15, the legal community in the Pikes Peak region will come together in person for the event. It will offer free information on a variety of topics including divorce, custody matters and other family law issues.
The Eighth Judicial District Nominating Commission announced plans to meet at the Larimer County Justice Center July 28 to interview and select nominees for county judge for Larimer County. The vacancy will be created by the retirement of Judge Mary Joan Berenato, effective Sept. 17. Nominations and applications are due July 5 and July 12.
Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Brian Boatright announced the appointment of District Judge Christopher Baumann to serve as chief judge of the Denver District Court in the Second Judicial District. Boatright replaces Judge Michael Martinez upon his retirement, effective Sept. 1.
On June 23, the Colorado Judicial Branch announced an upcoming vacancy on the 22nd Judicial District covering Dolores and Montezuma counties. The district judge vacancy will occur on Jan. 10, 2023 and will be created by the retirement of Judge Douglas Walker. Nominations and applications are due July 26 and July 19.
