Michael Best Adds Partner Eric Sanderson to Denver Office

Michael Best announced April 30 Eric Sanderson joined the firm’s wealth planning group, specifically the family office services sub-group, as partner. He is based in the firm’s Denver office.

Sanderson’s background is in legal, tax, trust and financial strategies for high-net-worth families. He’s also held leadership roles at one of the largest banking institutions in the U.S. 


“Eric’s addition to the team enhances to our dedication to excellence in serving our clients with some of the most complex and personal matters,” said firm wealth planning practice group chair Brad Kalscheur in a press release. “His tactical approach and innovative solutions align perfectly with our practice’s vision.”

According to the announcement, Sanderson also advises on legal and policy matters, including finance, equity investments, private equity funds, debt restructuring, contracts law, business transactions, estate and trust planning and administration, tax, mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, philanthropy, aviation and corporate finance. He drafts contracts, leases, wills, trusts and loan documents across various business sectors.

In a press release, Shawn Stigler, the firm’s Colorado offices managing partner, said, “Eric’s arrival is a testament to our firm’s commitment to providing comprehensive and sophisticated services to family offices and privately held businesses. His depth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our clients and our team as we continue to expand our reach in Colorado.”

Sanderson earned his LLM in taxation from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also held a position at the law school as an adjunct professor of estate and gift tax law. He received his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree in international business from the University of Colorado Boulder.
