Meghan Stoppel Joins Foley & Lardner’s State Attorneys General Practice

Foley & Lardner announced March 24 that it added three attorneys to its nationwide state attorneys general practice, including of counsel Meghan Stoppel in Denver. Stoppel joined Foley & Lardner from Cozen O’Connor. Siran Faulder and Stephen Cobb also joined the firm as partners in Washington, D.C.

Stoppel advises clients through multistate attorney general investigations and regulatory compliance across key industries, including financial services, health care, hospitality, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications. She has litigated cases in both state and federal courts and directed investigations related to laws such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

“This strategic expansion of our State Attorneys General and Government Solutions Practices underscores Foley’s commitment to strengthening our national capabilities in the Health Care & Life Sciences and Innovative Technology sectors,” Daljit Doogal, Foley Chairman and CEO, said in a press release. “Siran, Stephen, and Meghan bring a wealth of experience working with both state and federal regulators, and their proven track record in managing complex regulatory issues will be essential in advancing our goal of providing customized, client-driven solutions. We are excited to welcome them to the firm.”

Stoppel previously served as chief of the Consumer Protection Division in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, where she led investigations on deceptive trade practices, data privacy and antitrust matters. She also spent nearly a decade in the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, working closely with federal agencies like the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice.

“We are thrilled that Siran, Stephen, and Meghan have chosen to bring their years of experience and expertise to Foley. Their impressive work at the highest levels of state AG offices, followed by successful private practice, has established them as some of the country’s leading practitioners in the field,” Ed Burbach, co-chair of Foley’s state attorneys general practice added. “Their deep legal knowledge and strong relationships with state AGs and their executive teams are a perfect fit for our group and further enhance our ability to help clients resolve issues.”

“We joined Foley because of the firm’s strong reputation for handling complex state and federal regulatory challenges, particularly in key industries where we have significant government solutions experience,” Stoppel, Faulder and Cobb said in a joint release. “This, along with Foley’s collaborative culture, extensive resources, and nationwide presence, provides the ideal platform for advancing our practices and supporting clients facing high-stakes state AG and FTC investigations and regulatory matters across the country.”
