Ogletree Deakins announced Jan. 10 that Matthew Love has joined the firm’s Denver office as of counsel. Love is a member of the firm’s cross-border practice group. His practice focuses on providing labor and employment legal counsel to U.S. companies operating worldwide. He advises employers on global employment policies, termination and redundancy processes, employment investigations, disciplinary procedures and issues related to harassment, discrimination and retaliation. Love earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi.

Snell & Wilmer announced on Jan. 14 that Timothy Reilly has joined the firm’s litigation, investigations and trials practice group as a partner in its Denver office. With a background as general counsel for a premier construction management, general contracting and real estate development company, Reilly advises clients on construction contract drafting and negotiation, business strategy for construction operations and resolution of construction disputes. Reilly earned his J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. He is licensed to practice in Colorado, Texas and South Dakota.

Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP on Jan. 14 welcomed Julie Shursky as an associate and Jared Anderson as a patent agent in its intellectual property and technology transactions group. Shursky is admitted to practice in Colorado, New York and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Anderson is a registered patent agent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Megan Cullen and Hunter Ross

Davis Graham also announced Jan. 15 that Megan Cullen and Hunter Ross have joined the firm as associates in the property rights group. Cullen specializes in business and commercial litigation, including real estate, contract law, intellectual property and complex civil matters. Prior to joining Davis Graham, Ross practiced at a law firm in Aspen, Colorado, where he focused his practice on commercial and real estate litigation, with an emphasis on land use matters, including local permitting assistance and Rule 106 actions.

Holland & Hart announced Jan. 15 that Seamus Crowley and Julia Oksasoglu have joined the firm’s Denver office as associates. Crowley focuses on public utility regulation matters, and Oksasoglu focuses on complex business litigation. Crowley received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and Oksasoglu received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and is admitted to practice in Colorado and New York.

The judiciary

The Eighteenth Judicial District Nominating Commission announced Jan. 16 it nominated three candidates for a district court judgeship created by House Bill 20-1026. This bill changed the boundaries of the existing 18th Judicial District and established the new 23rd Judicial District, effective Jan. 14. Nominees Bryce Allen of Aurora, Nicholas Campbell of Englewood and Joshua Jay Williford of Aurora were selected by the commission on Jan. 15. Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days to appoint one of the nominees as district court judge for the Eighteenth Judicial District serving Arapahoe County.

On Jan. 10, Taft announced that attorney Alex Thomas was appointed president of the Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association, or CLBA, for 2025. He will lead the organization in its mission to provide a sense of community and belonging to LGBTQ+ individuals in the legal field in Colorado, through programming and other initiatives.

Womble Bond Dickinson on Jan. 10 announced that Ryan Hebert was promoted to of counsel. Working out of the firm’s litigation practice group, he represents clients in complex commercial litigation, class actions, regulatory investigations, securities, intellectual property, product liability and other litigation matters. 

Kutak Rock on Jan. 13 announced its 60th anniversary. From its beginnings in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1965, the firm noted it has grown its presence to 19 locations across the nation today.

Five Taft attorneys have been named to 5280 Magazine’s Top Lawyers List for 2025, the firm announced on Jan. 13. Jordan Fox was listed for family law/divorce, Mary Sue Greenleaf for construction, Garth Jensen for securities, Skip Netzorg for alternative dispute resolution and Mark Williams for civil litigation. 

The Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System announced Jan. 13 that it is awarding Robert Southers, director of the Franklin County Municipal Court Self Help Center and Dispute Resolution Department, the fifth annual Alli Gerkman Legal Visionary Award. According to the announcement, the award is designed to encourage and showcase innovators, risk-takers, visionaries and emerging leaders who bring a different perspective and a reform-minded approach to the improvement of our legal system, and who are early in their legal careers.

KO Law announced Jan. 14 that Jennifer Rosenthal has been named as the firm’s new managing partner. She replaces outgoing Managing Partner Jon Taylor. She graduated law school in 2009, joined KO Law in 2012, and was promoted to equity partner in 2016, the fastest ascension to partnership by anyone in the firm’s history. Rosenthal was also the firm’s first female equity partner and is now the firm’s first female Managing Partner. She was one of Law Week’s 2024 Lawyers of the Year, a 2023 Outstanding Woman in Business by the Denver Business Journal, Silicon Flatirons’ Entrepreneurship Supporter of the Year, Boulder Valley’s 40 under Forty Honoree, a Super Lawyers Rising Star and more.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck announced the elevation of Cooper Reveley as a senior policy advisor. Reveley, a member of the firm’s government relations department, leverages experience from positions in state, federal and international government to connect clients with relevant policymakers and to offer strategic insight on high-level issues.

On Jan. 16, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck announced that Paul Stevenson, an associate in the firm’s corporate and business department, has joined the board of directors of Coalition 4 Cyclists, an organization that creates safer cycling in Boulder County, Colorado. In his two-year term, Stevenson will help the organization move its mission forward through partnerships with stakeholders in the community as well as local governments to influence policy and accelerate infrastructure. 

Odds & Ends

Spencer Fane LLP on Jan. 13 announced MaxMods as the recipient of the firm’s 2025-2026 charitable grant program in Denver. As part of its charitable grant program, Spencer Fane will donate $25,000, paid in installments over the next two years, to MaxMods to support a mission of hosting an annual event called Santa’s Little Hackers that modifies toys for children with disabilities. According to the announcement, the Colorado-based charity was created to “make the world accessible for all” through adaptations and modifications of toys and devices for individuals living with disabilities.
