Davis Graham & Stubbs announced on Sept. 17 that Stephen Snow joined the firm’s environmental and public lands group as an associate. He is admitted to practice in Colorado and Texas. Before joining Davis Graham, Snow clerked for Judge Scott Varholak of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and Chief Justice Nathan Hecht of the Supreme Court of Texas. Snow received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

On Sept. 18, Holland & Hart announced that two business litigation associates, Shannon Calhoun and Andi Savage, joined the firm in Denver. Calhoun counsels clients on a wide range of complex litigation matters, from white collar criminal defense to breach of contract and unjust enrichment actions, construction litigation, trusts and estates disputes and litigation and insurance coverage disputes. She received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. Savage counsels clients facing disputes ranging from business divorces and contract disagreements to general litigation. She received her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, an M.A. from the University of Colorado, and a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University.

The judiciary

On Sept. 13, Gov. Jared Polis appointed Michael Kotlarczyk to the 20th Judicial District Court, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Bruce Langer, effective Oct. 12. Kotlarczyk is a senior assistant attorney general in the public officials unit as well as an assistant solicitor general at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, positions he’s held since 2022 and 2024, respectively. His practice consists of trial and appellate litigation on behalf of the state of Colorado, according to the announcement. Previously, Kotlarczyk was an assistant AG at the Colorado AG’s Office from 2019 to 2022, attorney at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP from 2015 to 2019, attorney at Reilly Pozner LLP from 2010 to 2015, law clerk for 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge David Ebel from 2009 to 2010 and law clerk for Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 2008 to 2009. Kotlarczyk earned his bachelor’s degree from Drake University in 2004 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008.

Movers & shakers

Michael Best on Sept. 16 announced a strategic combination with Lincoln, Nebraska-based corporate and securities law practice Enterprise Legal Studio. The arrangement establishes Michael Best’s 19th office, with the Lincoln location serving as the firm’s formal entrance into the Great Plains market. Effective immediately, six attorneys and two professionals from Enterprise Legal Studio have joined Michael Best.
