Supreme Court Says Property Tax Bill Doesn’t Violate TABOR
The Colorado Supreme Court ruled earlier this week that a bill that would raise property taxes doesn’t require voter approval under TABOR since voters had already given approval for the tax adjustments indicated covered by the bill.
El Paso County Settles Pandemic-related Lawsuit
El Paso County has settled a lawsuit with the ACLU, agreeing to implement COVID-19 precautions such as supplying masks to inmates in the county jail, and screening inmates for pre-existing conditions through the fall of 2021.
Free Speech in HOAs
The ACLU has also handled dozens of complaints in the past year about homeowners’ associations restricting what home owners can display outside their homes. A bill in the legislature would require HOAs to only issue “content-neutral” regulations when it comes size, number and location of signs or flags.

Colorado’s major health care reform bill moved past a Senate vote yesterday and is now one step away from heading to the governor’s desk.

University of Miami law school faculty are protesting the firing of the school’s dean. The announcement of his firing indicated fundraising was a factor in his termination, and the faculty are protesting the “haste and lack of consultation” in the decision.
