On July 29, BCLP announced that James English joined the firm’s Denver office as a partner. He is part of the firm’s finance transactions practice and energy transition team. English joins the firm from the Houston office of Clark Hill Law.
English focuses his practice on companies in the international oil and gas, light natural gas, fuel, mining, chemicals and technology industries as they develop, buy and sell projects and related infrastructure globally. He covers a wide range of complex development and commercial projects, including host government instruments, joint ventures, supply, offtake, tolling, acquisitions, divestment, trades, credit support, site services, facility sharing, transportation and numerous other industry-tailored agreements.
English also guides clients through EV charging, battery storage and fleet conversion in addition to advising corporate buyers using clean energy.
During his tenure at Anadarko Petroleum Corp., which was acquired by Occidental Petroleum Corp., English served as senior international negotiator. His experience involved work in more than 50 countries, with a particular focus on Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada and the Caribbean.
Beyond traditional legal work, English serves as the lead co-chair of the Association of International Energy Negotiators’ LNG sale and purchase agreement committee.
“We are thrilled to welcome James to our team,” said Peter Hansen, partner and global co-leader of the firm’s energy transition sector, in a press release. “His extensive knowledge in both traditional and renewable energy will be a significant asset for our clients—enhancing our capabilities and further strengthening our position in the energy sector.”
