Gov. Jared Polis on Nov. 22 made two judicial appointments to the 4th and 14th Judicial District Courts.
Polis appointed Magistrate Judge Amanda Philipps to the 4th Judicial District Court to replace retiring Judge Thomas Kane, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
Philipps is a district court magistrate in the 4th Judicial District, a position she’s held since 2021. Her docket consists of domestic relations and probate matters, according to the announcement.
Previously, Philipps was a senior/supervising public defender in the Colorado Springs Office from 2016 to 2021, a solo practitioner at Amanda J. Philipps, LLC from 2012 to 2016, deputy public defender in the Colorado Springs Office from 2005 to 2012 and an associate with Berg, Hill, Greenleaf & Ruscitti from 2004 to 2005.
Philipps earned her bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College in 2000 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2004.
Polis appointed Judge Brittany Schneider to the 14th Judicial District Court to replace retiring Judge Sandra Gardner, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
Schneider is a county court judge in the 14th Judicial District, a position she’s held since 2020. Her docket consists of criminal and civil matters, according to the announcement.
Previously, Schneider was a deputy district attorney in the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office from 2018 to 2020, an adjunct instructor at Eastern Wyoming College from 2017 to 2018, assistant public defender in the Wyoming Office of the Public Defender from 2015 to 2018, owner of the Law Office of Brittany Schneider from 2015 to 2018, deputy DA in the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in 2015, a personal banker with Wells Fargo from 2014 to 2015 and a staff attorney at P. Scott Lowery, PC from 2012 to 2014.
Schneider earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2008 and her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2011.
