Gov. Polis Appoints James Bullock as District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District

Gov. Jared Polis on April 10 appointed James Bullock as the district attorney for the 16th Judicial District, effective April 13. Bullock will fill a vacancy created by the appointment of William Culver to the Otero County Court. 

Bullock is the assistant DA for the 16th Judicial District, a position he’s held since 2021. His practice consists of criminal prosecution. Previously, he served as the elected DA for the 16th Judicial District from 2012 to 2021, member of Bullock Law Office from 1996 to 2012, partner with the Law Firm of Lefferdink and Bullock from 1986 to 1996 and associate attorney with the Law Firm of Lefferdink and Davis from 1984 to 1986. 


Bullock earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980 and his J.D. from Gonzaga University in 1984.
