Gov. Polis Appoints Don Wilson to Represent House District 19

Gov. Jared Polis on Nov. 9 issued an executive order appointing Don Wilson to represent House District 19 following the resignation of former Rep. Tim Geitner. The appointment is effective immediately and will continue until January when the legislature convenes, according to the announcement.

Wilson was elected to represent House District 20 on Nov. 8. When the legislature convenes in January, a state representative will serve as the representative for House District 19 and Wilson will serve as the representative for House District 20.

The governor’s office noted in its announcement Polis was required by Colorado law to make this appointment following the Republican Vacancy Committee’s failure to choose a replacement. According to the announcement, the committee had 30 days following Tim Geitner’s resignation to select and appoint a new representative.
