Gov. Polis Appoints Arturo Hernandez to the 17th Judicial District Court

Gov. Jared Polis on Dec. 19 appointed Arturo Hernandez to the 17th Judicial District Court. This appointment fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Judge Donald Quick and is effective on Jan. 23, 2024. 

Hernandez is a senior lead deputy district attorney in the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a position he has held since 2022, according to the announcement. His practice consists of criminal prosecution. 


Hernandez was deputy DA in the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office from 2021 to 2022, assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2004 to 2013 and deputy DA in the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office from 1997 to 2004. 

Hernandez earned his undergraduate degree and J.D. from Ohio State University.
