Holland & Knight announced Oct. 14 that Edward “Ted” Mayle had joined the firm’s Denver office as a partner. Mayle will be part of the firm’s intellectual property practice. He joins the firm with Dallas-based partner Kris Reed. Both Reed and Mayle joined Holland & Knight from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton.

“Kris and Ted bring a wealth of experience in intellectual property matters and will add depth to our intellectual property bench,” David Donoghue, leader of the firm’s intellectual property group, said in a press release. “As respected players in the field, they will further solidify Holland & Knight as a market leader in the intellectual property space. We are thrilled to have them join the firm.”

Mayle’s practice focuses on patent infringement litigation and appeals, and administrative actions before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has experience representing companies accused of infringement in cases involving various industries, including telecommunications systems, semiconductors, software-related systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems and medical devices.

“Holland & Knight’s dedication to the growth of its national intellectual property practice was enticing to me and I am eager to begin working with this esteemed group of attorneys for the benefit of my clients,” Mayle said in a press release.

Mayle also has significant experience in inter partes review proceedings involving a variety of technology. Before he joined the legal profession, he served in the U.S. Navy for nine years as a naval aviator flying F-14s.

Mayle received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy.
