Buchalter on July 11 announced the additions of Dylan Metzner, Amber Arias, Laura Chartrand and Albert Sahlstrom in the firm’s Denver office. Metzner joins as a shareholder specializing in tax planning and estate matters. Arias joins Buchalter’s family law practice group, Chartrand’s practice concentrates on natural resources matters representing clients in various industries, including agriculture, and oil and gas and Sahlstrom’s practice focuses on both commercial and trust and estate litigation, according to the announcement.
“The arrival of Dylan, Amber, Laura, and Albert reflects our ongoing commitment to attracting top-tier talent to Buchalter,” said Buchalter president and CEO Adam Bass in a news release. “Their individual expertise aligns seamlessly with our firm’s capabilities amid our continued growth. We are thrilled to welcome them to the team.”
Metzner specializes in advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, estates, corporate executives, closely held business owners and professionals. He often guides clients through the complexities of tax, estate and wealth planning.
Metzner’s expertise extends to advising clients on tax-advantaged entity structures, business planning issues and representing family members, fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust-related disputes, according to the announcement. He was recently elected chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Trust and Estate Section for the 2024-2025 session.

Arias’ practice includes a diverse caseload of pre- and post-decree divorce matters involving high-net-worth individuals. She has over a decade of experience working in the legal field and helps clients navigate complex financial and emotional landscapes, according to the announcement.
Chartrand has nearly two decades of experience representing business owners, agricultural interests, trade associations, elected officials and government agencies in natural resource matters. She is the former regional solicitor of the Rocky Mountain Region with the Department of the Interior. She also served as a deputy attorney general for the natural resources and environment section with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. Her state and federal government experience includes directing litigation and providing general counsel advice for the agencies within the Department of the Interior and Colorado Department of Natural Resources and the environmental divisions of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Sahlstrom focuses on representing businesses and individuals in complex commercial litigation and trusts and estates litigation. He has extensive experience in court, first-chairing hearings and trials, examining witnesses, selecting juries and delivering oral arguments. He has been counsel on more than 25 jury trials, in addition to conducting bench trials and arbitration trials.
