Caplan & Earnest announced Feb. 10 that Ava Cusack has joined the firm’s family and divorce law team as an attorney. Cusack brings experience in litigation, client advocacy and several areas of the law to Caplan & Earnest.

Cusack’s legal career spans diverse practice areas, including personal injury, construction defect, criminal and municipal law. Her experience spans the legal process from the inception of cases through their settlement or trial, and her public speaking, interpersonal and legal writings skills have earned her recognition as an advocate for her clients.

“We are excited to welcome Ava to our team,” Kristin Edgar, co-managing partner of the firm, said in a press release. “Her broad experience and dedication to providing outstanding client service align perfectly with our mission to offer personalized, results-driven legal representation. Ava’s skills and passion for family law make her an invaluable asset as we support clients through some of life’s most challenging transitions.”

Before joining Caplan & Earnest, Cusack served as an associate attorney at Overturf McGath & Hull P.C., where she provided strategic counsel to clients through the litigation process and collaborated with other attorneys to develop legal strategies. Her role included conducting depositions, drafting dispositive motions, trial briefs and comprehensive case evaluations.

Cusack’s background includes experience as a law clerk for the Boulder City Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted criminal cases under the Student Practice Act and gained insights into municipal government operations. She also worked as a legal intern at Geraghty Law office, where she built on skills in legal research and analysis, particularly in real estate and premises liability cases.
