Public Officials Go Private

by Tony Flesor

Two of the top public attorneys in Colorado’s legal scene returned in-house this year. Two events on Thursday indicated that the settling-in period is over, and they are both getting down to work. Scott Martinez and John Walsh were welcomed to Snell & Wilmer and WilmerHale, respectively, on Thursday with parties that featured rooms crowded with a who’s who list at each firm, drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Scott Martinez returned to private practice in February after his stint in the public sector as the Denver City Attorney from December 2013 to May 2016. Martinez was brought over to the firm to lead the government relations, regulatory and administrative law practice in the Denver office. The firm promoted the Thursday event as a community-focused event with a donation in honor of the evening’s guests to Clayton Early Learning.
