Bruce Fowler already knew he was in line to become the new managing director of Fairfield & Woods, but he didn’t know the promotion was going to come so soon.
The firm announced Feb. 24 that Fowler, a director who has been with the Denver firm since 2006 and has served on its executive committee since 2013, took over the leadership role from Craig Johnson. The transition is the latest in a string of other administrative roles to change over the past year. Fowler will maintain his law practice while taking on the additional management duties.
Fowler said he knew he was in line to become the next managing director but that he didn’t expect that transition to happen for about another two years. Johnson in mid-January moved into an in-house counsel role with one of his utilities clients and stepped down from the position. The transition took place immediately after. Johnson is staying on at the firm as a shareholder until matters that he is involved in are resolved.
The managing director position at Fairfield & Woods does not have a set term. Johnson had been managing director since January 2015.
