Shapiro Bieging Barber Otteson announced today the election of Kurt Leeper to partner and the appointment of Bo Anderson as senior counsel. Both attorneys had previously been associates at the Denver-based law firm.
Kurt Leeper’s practice focuses on corporate and securities matters and mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on the representation of financial institutions.
Prior to joining SBBO Leeper worked for a major national law firm in Cleveland, Ohio, where he represented a variety of clients in corporate transactions, securities law compliance and other matters. He also did extensive work for the Securities Investor Protection Corporation in its recovery efforts with respect to the collapse of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.
Anderson’s practice focuses on banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, corporate governance, entity formation and private equity transactions.
Anderson provides legal counsel on complex commercial transactions in a broad range of industries. As part of his practice, he represents clients as outside general counsel, taking a hands-on approach in managing all aspects of corporate legal affairs and risk assessment.
Both Leeper and Anderson are key members of the firm’s banking, lending and financial institutions practice group that handled bank merger transactions with an aggregate deal value in excess of $400 million in 2016. This included a $140 million merger that produced one of the biggest banks in Colorado.
