New Law Firm Aims to Fill Colorado’s ‘Coverage Gap’

by Law Week

Damian Arguello wants to help more businesses avoid what he calls “the religious experience” of suffering a catastrophic loss that their insurance doesn’t cover.

With his newly opened law firm, Colorado Insurance Law Center, Arguello is leveraging his claims management background so that his clients can make the right calls on their insurance policies and contracts. While a company can find plenty of insurance litigators who handle coverage disputes, there aren’t many firms like CILC that can effectively consult on insurance issues on the front end — and hopefully avoid those disputes to begin with.

“I don’t think it’s a market that’s being well served right now,” Arguello said.

Arguello, a former president on the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, previously was a partner at Denver firm Davis Graham & Stubbs, where he had an insurance litigation practice that slowly evolved into more insurance-focused counseling. He left DGS a year ago for insurance litigation boutique Levin Sitcoff, where he is still of counsel while he runs CILC.
