The SBLA kicked off its Colorado chapter with a Pepsi Center panel

By Doug Chartier

While hockey fans poured into the Pepsi Center, legal professionals gathered in one of the arena’s conference rooms to hear about issues facing different corners of Colorado’s sports industry.

The Sports Business Leader Association presented a panel discussion featuring in-house counsel at sports-focused companies on Dec. 17. The education and networking event also served as the official kick-off of the SBLA’s Colorado chapter.

Founded in Tampa, Florida, the SBLA is a nonprofit charitable organization consisting of sports lawyers and business leaders that raises money to send underprivileged children to sports camps. The SBLA presented its inaugural event in conjunction with a Colorado Avalanche hockey game.

The discussion was moderated by Justin Moore, an associate with Shutts & Bowen in Tampa and president of the Tampa chapter of the SBLA. Holland & Knight associate David Lisko is the SBLA’s Colorado chapter president.
