Thriving in a Relationship Business

by Ali Manor

Business development is focal point of roundtable

In late September, Law Week gathered Jay Tiftickjian of the Tiftickjian Law Firm, Bryan Cave Denver office managing partner Randy Miller and Davis Graham & Stubbs partner Matt Perkins at Colliers International for a discussion on client relations and business development.

Law Week gathered a group with experiences at different sized firms to find out what is required of an attorney to promote their own work and secure business for their firm, regardless of if he or she is an entrepreneur, a firm partner or a member of firm leadership. Thank you to all of our participants and to Colliers International for participating in our 3rd quarter roundtable discussion.

LAW WEEK: Thank you all for coming, obviously this wouldn’t work without you agreeing. It’s a little smaller group this time, I was hoping to get a range of sizes and experiences.

RANDY MILLER: I think it will be a pretty good group though.

LAW WEEK: Just thinking about the people we have here, I think we have the right people to talk to. The focus of this roundtable is on client development, relationships, what do you look for in terms of marketing your firms, how you build those relationships and maintain them, the value of rainmakers.
