McKenna Long & Aldridge announced Wednesday that the firm merged with Dentons US, which brings the influence of a 6,000-plus-attorney international megafirm into the Denver legal market.

The move comes on the heels of another recent merger between Dentons and Chinese law firm Dacheng. With that merger, in January, the combined Dacheng Dentons became the largest law firm in the world. The law firm now has 6,600 attorneys in 50 countries. In the U.S., the firm has 1,100 attorneys, 500 of whom come from McKenna Long.

The McKenna Long merger was approved by partners from both firms. According to a website about the merger, dentons-mckenna-combination.com, “By mutual decision, not all lawyers and professionals will join the combined firm.”

According to leadership from McKenna Long and Dentons, the move has been years in the making and allows the combined firm to reach its clients wherever they are. Although the Denver office is just one of 21 across the country, it is expected to be a major location for the firm in the energy industry.
