CO Law Schools Ascend National Rankings

US News & World Report announced its 2016 Best Law Schools yesterday, and both the University of Colorado Law School and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law made gains in the national rankings.

This year’s survey placed DU law school at 67th in the country, up one spot from last year, and CU’s law program climbed three spots from last year to 40th.

As for specialty program categories in which Colorado law schools placed in the top 10, CU’s environmental law program ranked fifth in the nation (up from ninth last year), and DU’s legal writing program ranked seventh (up one from last year). DU’s part-time law program also cracked the top ten in the nation, reaching the 10th spot after being ranked 12th last year.

For its 2016 rankings, the US News & World Report collected data between fall 2014 and early 2015 on 198 law schools that are fully accredited by the American Bar Association. The rankings of are based on a weighted average of 12 different quality measures including selectivity and graduates’ job placement success rate.
