Gov. John Hickenlooper and other statewide elected officials took an oath of office on the Colorado State Capitol steps on Jan. 13.
Hickenlooper addressed a crowd of over 100 in a personal and hopeful speech that outlined his plans for the coming term.
“I am not the same person that I was four years ago … In the same way, Colorado is not the same state it was four years ago,” Hickenlooper said, addressing the Colorado natural disasters, shootings and economic changes that have marked the past four years, as well as the resilience Coloradans displayed in overcoming these setbacks. This term, he hopes to put energy into providing strong educational opportunities for all children, improving Colorado’s public transportation systems and making accessible quality healthcare for all citizens.
