Last week, Denver-based cannabusiness firm Hoban Law Group announced plans to open several international offices, four this fall in the European Union and two in Latin America by spring of next year.
“It presents an interesting opportunity for us,” managing partner Bob Hoban said. “We have the insight, and it’s exciting to operate as an entrepreneur. We’ve built one of top brands in the cannabis industry, so it puts the burden on us. We have to continue to deliver.”
The firm provides expertise in all commercial legal matters concerning business and financing in the cannabis industry. Offices in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Spain will serve to advise governments in the structuring of their legal framework around medical and recreational systems.
“As a firm who specializes in this industry, sometimes at the beginning your perspective or experience is disregarded,” Hoban said. “At the beginning they’ll say ‘Oh you’re just marijuana.’ But it’s not true, we brought non-cannabis people to this industry, but we did it early on. It was a challenge to get through that.”
