Gov. John Hickenlooper today appointed Roberto Ramirez as district court judge for the 17th Judicial District, which includes Adams and Broomfield counties. He will fill a vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Craig Welling’s appointment to the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Ramirez currently serves as a senior assistant city attorney for the City of Arvada. In this capacity, he represents Arvada in a broad variety of civil litigation matters, including civil rights, governmental immunity, environmental, personal injury and contract cases. Ramirez also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Space Command and as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver School of Law. Prior to his current employment, he served as chief senior prosecutor and appellate counsel and government appellate counsel for the Air Force Reserves.
Ramirez earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and his law degree from South Texas College of Law.
